Rev Al Sharpton is a Racist

Many people today are claiming that Rev Al Sharpton is a Racist after the statements he said during his speech at the Michael Jackson memorial.

What did Reverand Al Sharpton say exactly that has many people thinking he is a racist? In a nutshell he said that the King of Pop was treated unfairly because he was black. Here is the full text of what he said:

I am here because of the disgraceful and the despicable way some elements of the media have tried to destroy the legacy and image of Michael Jackson. You have had other entertainers that have had issues in their life. But you [the media] did not degrade and denigrate them…Show the same respect for Michael and Michael’s family that you showed Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley. I don’t think the media understand who Michael was. I don’t think they have any cultural significance.

Does the above text sound like Rev Al Sharpton is a Racist? Some argue that MJ was not treated differently and that Elvis was also criticized for his weird music and drug abuse while others believe that MJ did have it rough but could it be due to his skin color? What is your opinon?
